Protero should just translate to "future wine" instead it ironically means before...
Steve Pannell (of SC Pannell fame) has chosen the Adelaide Hills as the home of a project that explores grape varieties better suited to our climate and capable of withstanding future climate change. The wines produced by Protero are an interpretation of varieties more commonly found in Europe.
I fell in love with the label after trying the Nebbiolo (which is magnificent and under $40) but the release of the Barbera has put me on my heels. This is wonderful wine.
