Vegan friendly and only working with likeminded (organic practice) growers, Yoshi Sato makes some of Central Otago's most ethereal wines.
Aromas of red and black cherry, mineral undertones and asian spice delight the nose. The palate feels light and sinewy, but don't be fooled there is flavour....in spades. Red cherries combine with red currant, cinnamon and very light mushroomy forest floor flavours. Delicate tannins keep everything together.
This is the expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir you did not know you wanted.
"Minimal intervention approach, organic farming, wild yeast, not fined or filtered, from Yoshi and Kyoko Sato. These wines seem to be quite elusive. Also, there’s a lot of detailed information on the back label, which I find useful.
Sweet cherry and pomegranate juice overtones, very very gentle nose, with fresh rose petals. One of those wines that caresses the senses at the start and you know you’re in for something special. It continues with a rosehip tea and subtle blood orange lift. Oh, and it’s so fine on the palate, silky. You can feel a hint of oak (16 months in all old French barrels) as allspice/bay leaf, perhaps something more like a herb garden mix of aromas. Fruit is there, for sure, carrying flavours for a long finish and it’s all so graceful. A smooth and very very elegant lightweight touch with nuance and charm. Delightful."
