GSM - Grenache Shiraz Mataro, the blend ratio changes between winemakers and is fruit specific. One parcel of Shiraz is different from another so less or more is added depending on how it works with the Grenache. The same with the Mataro, too little and its lacking...too much and you will spoil the blend.
But when the winemaker gets it right...oh baby!
Wonderfully perfumed nose of purple fruit, blueberries and plums with spicy mulberries and chalky dusty notes. Warm cooking spices dance around the edge. The palate is rich and round, more purple fruit playing on this palate with the vaguest hint of raspberry and maybe some beetroot. An amaroesque finish with chalky tannins.
Serve with food, I am thinking a rich pasta or a braise.
