"The Wait Single Vineyard Grenache 2021 is sourced from the Top Bush block owned by the Wait family in the northeast corner of the Blewitt Springs area of McLaren Vale.
Planted in the mid 1940’s, this block is dry grown and provides small berries with intense flavour and prominent tannin.
The most structural and savoury wine in the range, brooding in character with earth and briary characters dominating the palate."
The fruit for the 98 Point Aphelion Rapture Grenache 2021 ($101) is sourced from the Wait and Brini Vineyards.
"From a parcel of dry-grown bush vines planted in the 1940s, fermented as whole clusters and aged in a single, larger-format cask. Very fragrant aromatics with sweet spices and almost flinty, dry-stony elements to the nose, together with wild raspberries, ripe red plums and sappy elements. Dried-rose and orange-zest notes, too. The palate has a very succulent feel with great length and tautness and a firmer, more intensely structured feel. More orange peel and blood orange here with red berries, too. Crunchy, almost peppery edge at the finish. Serious and delicious grenache here. Good now, but even better in a year or two."

"Blewitt Springs. Anyone who has young kids might have noticed that they say ‘No, wait’, quite a lot. It’s a curious thing, that and the increasing use of American words and pronunciation. My children say ‘Z’ as zee, not zed. Apparently Zed is Dead. It’s all so awful.
Raspberry, rosy perfume, a little spice and dried herb. It has a cranberry crunch to acidity, savoury and a little earthy, firm emery tannin, plenty of depth, and a long gravelly finish. Lovely, but very serious! Excellent."
