The Wanderer Chardonnay comes from the same vineyard as our Upper Yarra Pinot Noir. Cane pruned Penfolds clone vines. The grapes were whole bunch pressed then run into barrel with full solids the next day. Wild fermentation, left on lees without stirring until bottling. Fermentation and elevage in old french barrels. Only two barrels made a puncheon 500L and a hogshead 300L. Only 80 doz made.
Yellow peaches wrapped around yellow grapefruit with vague hints of lemons, salinity and wet stone minerality. Acids are soft, and the length goes for days.

Pear and green apple, lactose and honeysuckle, white peach and cedar, perhaps even some shells. It feels elegant and effortless as it shoots through to a long finish. Pop this in a cool dark place for a couple of years and it’ll do better than money in the bank."
