2022 Domenica Wines Gamay - Beechworth

Inaugural release. Peter describes Sorrenberg Gamay as a benchmark wine in Beechworth yet surprisingly only three Beechworth vineyards have Gamay in the ground, including Sorrenberg and now Domenica who grafted over a small amount of vines in 2019.
The wine is super bright and perfumed but without the confectionery. Still a little of that carbonic character though. Lots of bright purple fruit and that granitic terroir derived earthiness. Fine tannins, structure and minerality resemble the great cru Beaujolais wines of Morgon. Drink or hold for a few years but definitely don't miss out.
