A showcase of Patrick's winemaking skills, pretty and elegant...not like the other Chardonnays yet delivering immense power. Iron fist velvet glove stuff. Fruit is powerful, concentrated and lined with amazing acidity. Tending more to the citrus spectrum, the acids complement the flavours of orange & grapefruit. This is pretty special Chardonnay.
The Ada River vineyard was planted by the Kelleher family at Neerim South in the foothills of Mount Baw Baw, Gippsland. The site is comprised of uniform volcanic soils which run deep into basalt rock. Clonal selection is kept to P58 and I10V1 with total Chardonnay plantings of just on a hectare. At 300 m in elevation it has the fortune of 360 degree wind breaks which limit the at times harsh winds pushing down off the snow fields. 100% dry grown, which is evident in the intense fruit concentration.
