De-stemmed, no wholebunch and totally in balance. Silky red fruit with a smattering of dark fruit, raspberry into dark cherry so to speak. Delicate tannins wrap this tightly in a bow. There is more to this Pinot than meats the eye, brillant!
The Ada River vineyard was planted by the Kelleher family at Neerim South in the foothills of Mount Baw Baw, Gippsland. The site is comprised of uniform volcanic soils which run deep into basalt rock, the Pinot plantings comprise entirely MV6 clone. Fruit is hand harvested and chilled overnight, then de-stemmed into stainless steel for a three week fermentation. The wine is then pressed to 3rd and 4th use French barriques for elevage. At 300 m in elevation it has the fortune of 360 degree wind breaks which limit the at times harsh winds pushing down off the snow fields. 100% dry grown, which is evident in the intense fruit concentration.
