"Quietly powerful aromas of wildflowers, citrus and white nectarine combine with secondary characters of freshly grilled nuts and almond meal. Complex and intense, a creamy, velvety texture is underlined by citrus acidity and gentle spice finishing with a grapefruit pithiness that is intense, precise and long." - A. Rodda Winemaker
This wine is made from fruit that Adrian thinks is the best fruit in the Smiths Vineyard, a Cuvée so to speak. More time spent on lees and in barrel and released later. An exquisite wine. We tasted some months ago when it was released (still needing to open up), but it is now showing itself to be a superb wine. "All good things take time."
The aromas are pure opulence, layers of grapefruit and savoury spice backed by a pleasing toasty note. There could even be a hint of Charcuterie back there. At first sip it seems lean but then explodes on the palate with fleshy yellow peach that just goes for days. Soft and seamless, this is an incredible wine. I can only imagine how much better it will be in a few years.
