This was my first experience of Sagrantino, and it rocks. Bold and aromatic with a tannin profile to match. Dark and brooding, if you are a fan of Malbec or Primitivo then this wine is for you.
Deep purple to almost black in colour. Meaty violets earth dark chocolate blackberries. A big wine, really fruity with a clean line of acid and fine to chalky tannins. Black berries plums cherries something quite earthy very smooth with a subtle tang balanced by the tannins. Layers of complexity. Definitely a thinking wine.
