Another powerful Pinot from Apsley Gorge. A bit more forward than 2018 but offering more also. With the rich dark fruit and tobacco aromas comes more intense forest floor and roasted meaty charcuterie notes. The palate is very iron fist velvet glove which says a lot when its a Pinot. Rich fruit combine with layers of complex tannins, keep your eyes open there is a lot going on here. Once again decant this...you will be glad you did.
A vibrant meaty nose rich with red fruit, cherry spice and hints of sandalwood. Possibly the most masculine Pinot Noir I have tasted, it is an amazing wine. The palate interweaves red plums and raspberries and blue plums with cherries. Acids are balanced and the tannins you can find are ever so slightly talky. Great wine, but remember to decant first.
