2020 Bass Phillip Premium Pinot Noir - Gippsland
- Low stock - 5 items left
The nose is currently much punchier than the Estate, with oak to the fore, but with time this will mollify. There are still plenty of vibrant, expressive red and dark berry aromas, showing great portent for the future. The palate explodes with flavour and structure but has all the ingredients for an absolutely decadent Pinot experience.
"Destemmed fruit off the South Leongatha vineyard and some from Leongatha, wild fermented, left 14 days on skins then pressed off to French oak (63% new). A best-barrel selection. It's a sterling wine. Incredibly savoury with charcuterie, dried herbs and wafts of earth and autumn leaves with the oak both etched into and bolstering the palate. Fuller bodied but not weighty. This feels quite effortless, as the plush tannins and refreshing acidity work towards a lingering, very long finish. Quite a beauty."
