Brash Higgins Omensetter - shiraz/cabernet 2016Regular price $91.00
Omensetter is a special vineyard to Brad Hickey and this is a special wine. It takes the concept of handmade/ hand loved to a whole different level. The vineyard is old vine so there is that extra special intensity of flavour. 3 years in barrel then 3 years in bottle before release. Total production of 2000 bottles and every cork was hand selected.
This is a rare wine so you will not trip over this experience very often, a classic Shiraz Cabernet. Brad Hickey worked with Chris Ringland so you know this wine is going to be big and balanced. It's big and dark with oodles of brooding flavours. Pepper and spice, chocolate and blackberries with hints of chocolate orange (thank you Shiraz) mix with vague notes of tea and eucalypt (thank you cabernet). The palate is intense and powerful showing those intense McLaren Vale characteristics of blackfruit and earthy, chcocolaty coffee flavours.
"Inky, brooding, slick and dark. Potent wine of power yet grace with malt, black berry fruits, leather, pepper, and peanut husk characters abounding. Feathery tannins build to firmer pucker, there’s length, intensity and power or on their side. Has quite a good sense of compaction now but you can see it mellowing in cellars too. Very good wine. A modern classic, in four vintages, or something like that."
