This is next level Pinot Noir and completely unexpected from a 2nd vintage wine.
Deep raspberry to violet in colour. There is so much happening aroma-wise its hard to keep up. Raspberry, forest floor, damp violets, coffee grounds, mocha, dried twiggs. But the palate is where the action is, truly a next level wine...there is a bucket load of potential here, the wine is yet to flesh out. Multiple layers of texture and flavours happening all at once. Raspberries, dried raspberries and blood plum beautifully entwined with mouth coating textures. My hat is truly doffed...this is great wine.
A light bright balanced elegant expression of Pinot Noir. Remember to decant before drinking as this is a wine that needs to open up to show its greatness. Age will turn this Pinot Noir from great to exquisite.
The 2022 is 100% Pinot Noir from three vineyards in the Coal River Valley: the Brinktop Vineyard in Sorell, the Pressing Matters vineyard in Richmond and the Bubb + Pooley vineyard on White Kangaroo Road. Matured for 9 months in a mix of concrete (30%) and French oak puncheons (70%) with 20% new oak.
"The use of concrete vessels is no experiment either- it’s a style of vessel that has been traditionally used for centuries in the Old World. We have chosen each shape specifically to enhance the texture of the varietal within them and these beautiful, hand crafted vessels will last lifetimes.
