Pete Caldwell (Dalrymple Winemaker) has offered the following:
"Identifying single sites for Pinot Noir is not a new concept. In fact, Burgundy championed the art long ago, more so than any other region. The reflective nature of Pinot Noir to its environment makes it one of the most fascinating, challenging and rewarding varieties to work with. This, matched with the diverse regions of Tasmania, saw an opportunity too good for a Pinot Noir maker to ignore.
My intention for each of the chosen sites is to understand the influences of their climate and soils on the vines, and respect them through meticulous care in the vineyard and finally a minimalist approach to winemaking.
With the release of our Single Site wines, I hope that each will be true to its vintage and place, and cellared over time their identity will hold true."
