2020 Denton Shed Nebbiolo - Yarra Valley
- In stock, ready to ship
Luke Lambert can do no wrong, winemaker at Denton Hill he just keeps turning out good wines. Something new for Nebbiolo lovers...every year the Denton Nebbiolo sells likes hotcakes and now there is the Denton Shed Nebbiolo, on par with or better than other $40 Nebbioli.
Every time you put your nose in the glass you find something new, hints of smoky earth, raspberries, roses, marzipan and even Bakewell Tart! But that is just the beginning, Lukes skill at winemaking delivers a palate worthy of a more expensive Nebbiolo. There is so much going on...soft tannins encompass a complex platter of dark and red fruit flavours. Yum is an understatement.
"Destemmed, wild-yeast fermented and kept on skins for 15 days. Matured in 500L older French puncheons for 18 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered. An impressive, deep, ruby crimson. Highly aromatic with aromas of dark, morello cherries, chinotto, licorice root and botanicals such as juniper and bergamot. Super-fresh on the palate, this is both plush and sweetly fruited, yet has plenty of drive and those signature, structured nebbiolo tannins. A beautifully put together and well-priced wine by a winery and winemaker who have really hit their stride with this difficult-to-nail variety."
