Domaine Eleni et Edouard Vocoret Chablis “Le Bas de Chapelot” 2019Regular price $85.00
According to one of my clients “this is the ducks nuts!”
And I am inclined to agree. Very much in the Chablis style but richer and fuller. To be completely honest I am mad for the Domaine Christophe and the Christian Moreau Chablis but hands down this is my favourite. It is quite expensive for a Village Chablis, but without a shadow of a doubt worth every penny.
Les Bas translates to below and this plot borders the bottom of the Premier Cru of Chapelot, part of the Montee de Tonnerre hill, just a few yards away to the north sits Le Clos Grand Cru.
The quality of this spot as a ‘village wine’ is outstanding. South East exposition. Deeper soil than the 1er Cru of Chapelot so gives more richness (Clay, Limestone, and Kimmeridgian). 3.2 ha, 40 years old. Wild fermented in steel with elevage in barrel for months of 6 to 30 year old barriques.
