Frederick Stevenson Pinata 2021
- In stock, ready to ship
55% Cinsault, 21% Grenache, 16% Shiraz, & 8% Mourvedre
A light, fun expression of the vintage that was. Cinsault's light fragrance & crunchy acidity, with the deeper, fuller and spicier expression of Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre to round it out.
Deep plum notes straight out of the glass, with a bunch of brain char, reductive kind of notes (in a good way) that make you swirl the glass - which opens out to the sweeter red fruit core of the wine with a touch of spice - cinnamon / cloves and gaminess.
Smooth and soft mouthfeel upfront, brimming with plums, dark cherries & raspberries, which tails away to sweeter cherry and pomegranate acidity with a nice bed of dusty, dry tannins to pull everything together. Will lend itself to a chill in summer months, but plenty of volume and seriousness for the cooler months.
From the Ahrens's Vine Vale property (Cert. BD). Sand over clay w a touch of Ebenezer fruit from the Hoffmann vineyard.
