From the Hughes Family vineyards, from Whitehut - just to the north of the Clare township.
2021 was another dry winter and growing season but was greeted by a mild ripening season - meaning great concentration.
Slow / oxidative pressing, a fair degree of grape solids ferment and reductive handling from there on in. Zero adulteration, touch of SO2. Most probably will have a few tartrates. A love for Clare Valley Riesling manifested in a slightly different way.
The nose bursts with lime and lemons, with a background of tonic, lime curd, orange zest / blossom and touch of white pepper. It enters the mouth rather tight and tactile upfront, with a slight salty / oily mouth feel but makes its way to more mouthwatering citrus anda floral notes. It closes out with fresh acid, with a touch of drying spice/ tannin and then leaves an airiness of tonic water / botanicals.
