We are spolied for choice these days when it comes to sourcing good Beaujolais. So to be noticed a Beaujolais needs to be good. Laura Lardy does not disappoint with her Fleurie "Les Cotes" 2018. The nose offers aromas of stemmy raspberries and the palate follows with rich raspberries, cherries and blackberries. The tannins are on the biggish side so this wine needs food, but beyond that this wine is soooo good. Looking for good Fleurie Beaujolais? Stop here
"Laura Lardy is a fourth generation Beaujolais winemaker. Fermented in concrete eggs, then off to foudre of maturing. No additions, aside a tiny bit of sulphur. In conversion to organics, her father rented her a collection of parcels around Beaujolais. Fleurie based, though.
Dark fruited but super fresh feeling expression, shaped with crisp tannins, bright on stoney-mineral veins and sloshing with dark cherry and liquorice strap fruit characters. Slips along nicely, has this gulpable, moreish feel. A sheath of fine, feathery tannins to boot. Good drinking here."
