Pyramid Valley Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019
- Low stock - 2 items left
The second vintage of Pyramid Valley's foray into Central Otago and it is everything you want in a Central Otago Pinot Noir. But let's face it...the fruit comes from Lowburn Valley which has always produced stunning wines. So it's not unexpected...
Light and silky in style, there is a certain seamlessness to this wine. Again indicative of the winemaker's skill. Elegance in a glass I would suggest. Red fruit in abundance, bright red cherries and raspberries backed by exotic asian spices and some herbs in the chorus. These same fruits deliver again on the palate. Pour and let this baby breathe, you will not be disappointed.
From the Winemaker:
Medium dark purple with clear hues. Fragrant blackberry and raspberry with hints of liquorice, black pepper and clove. Sweet red plum, cherry and spice. Richly textured with lovely minerality. Complex with a long and silky sweet berry finish.
"A perfumed nose with aromas of redcurrants, sour cherries, sweet spices, cedar and violets. It’s medium-bodied with sleek tannins and bright acidity. Balanced, juicy and fleshy with a silky texture. Layered and precise with a long finish. Intense. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

"Curiously, perhaps, I’d place Martinborough, Marlborough and Canterbury above Central Otago in my NZ Pinot Noir pecking order. Anyway, this comes from the Lowburn region of CO.
Juicy, natural feeling Central Otago Pinot here. Poached strawberry, thyme, spice and a kiss of vanilla oak. It’s squishy and subtly sappy, brown spices and more of that wild herb perfume, a clay and earthy feel, a little tamarind tang on a finish of moderate length and powdery grip. Good wine, with no shortage of interest and texture."
