SC Pannell ‘Dead End’ Tempranillo McLaren Vale 2018Regular price $27.00
SC Pannell ‘Dead End’ Tempranillo is sourced from two of the oldest plantings in McLaren Vale, 15-18 years of age. The quality of these grapes has provided faith to continue pursuing Tempranillo as a straight varietal wine.
Traditionally vinified in small open-top fermenters for 10 days. Aged for 16 months in large format French and Hungarian oak vats and puncheons, 20% of which were new.
The wine shows sweet black cherry, sarsaparilla, sandalwood, pomegranate molasses and sumac.
I live in a dead end street, which is nice.
Dark cherry, a whole lot of five spice, some charred meat lavender, and liquorice. Medium-bodied, meaty but succulent in fruit, with silty tannin, lamb chops rolled in dried herb, balanced acidity, and a savoury finish that combines ripe fruit with black olive and herbs. Chewy. Excellent texture. So nicely done.
