2016 SC Pannell Nebbiolo Adelaide HillsRegular price $62.00
I spent a good couple of hours at lunch alongside Steve Pannell yesterday, looking at his Nebbiolo from 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2016. Good wines. Distinct character of Nebbiolo, but from the Hills. One of the great, and more progressive thinkers in Australian wine is Steve. If only there were more like him.
Bright young thing. Raspberry cordial, blackcurrant, cut fennel, spice and earth, a rose petal perfume emerging. Medium bodied, good volume of flavour, though light in footprint, with a translucent quality, fine cocoa/graphite tannin, cool acidity, and a well-defined finish of excellent length. It has verity and interest. It will age surely, and well. You can enjoy it now, but its best years are ahead of it. Really like this wine.
