Yeringberg ‘Yeringberg' Cabernet Blend - Yarra Valley - 2019Regular price $106.00
"Cabernet Sauvignon 55%, Cabernet Franc 13%, Merlot 13%, Petit Verdot 10%, Malbec 9%. A wine that really shines in 2019, our latest Yeringberg blend combines depth, structure and generosity, with the elegance and refinement that we expect in this wine. The nose offers aromas of cassis, violets, plum and bay leaf, interwoven with notes of roasted capsicum, cigar box, Christmas cake and mint — it’s deep, rich and almost exotic, while also cool, svelte and perfectly controlled. The palate has floral, plummy richness and - this year in particular - a wonderfully savoury, almost mineral structure that’s taut, fresh, lively and long. It has an authority that absolutely commands your attention. A wine that needs some air today, and certainly one to enjoy over the next 15-20 years.

Impressively fresh floral aromas here, then a spread of red berries, blueberries and blackberries. Very pure and primary. The palate is elegantly stated and shows a restrained touch, with red-berry and red-plum flavours sitting vibrant and juicy amid smoothly honed, long and ripe tannins. Polished and discreetly powerful. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Charming, mulchy and autumnal with tobacco, violet and mixed small berry fruit. It’s medium-bodied, red and black fruits, fresh, with gentle chewy paperbark tannin, a little tang and bright feel, red fruits and white flower perfume on a brisk finish of fine length. Charming. Classic under-stated Yarra Cabernet. More to come.
